We are very keen to share our knowledge and expertise of building electric narrowboats with other boat builders – to attempt to ensure that the electric boats which are being launched on the Inland Waterways are fit for purpose and correctly specified. It is vital that the whole electric system works in harmony and is correctly sized and configured, and installed safely – with due respect being given to the complexity of a properly functioning, safe system.
We have now successfully launched 16 x Serial Hybrids, 11 x Parallel Hybrids, and 3 x all-electric boats of our own. From each boat we are gathering and analysing a mass of invaluable data, which provides the opportunity for continuous improvement and advice to customers and trade.
In addition to our own boats, we have now provided electric propulsion systems (complete with our own Ortomate boat monitoring and control system) for a further 5 boats.
We are currently working with Aqua Narrowboats, Elton Moss, and Perrydale Narrowboats to help them to offer reliable electric propulsion options to their customers.
