Greener canal holidays with first serial hybrid hire boat

Canal holidays are a fantastic family break and a chance to be closer to nature and have fun on the water. Until now, with the exception of some day boats and all electric hire boats on the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal, the only option has been to hire traditional diesel powered narrowboats.

Ortomarine are very pleased to announce, their new collaboration with Cafwin Cruises, based in Droitwich Spa Marina, which will offer the first serial hybrid narrowboat for holiday hire from Spring 2022.

Designed, manufactured and owned by Ortomarine, “Ollie Owl” is a luxury, 58.5ft, 5 berth, electric serial hybrid narrowboat, which will provide near silent cruising via its electric engine, large battery bank and 8 solar panels.

Cafwin Cruises, who will operate and manage “Ollie Owl” are already taking hire bookings for 2022 and if you are considering buying a serial hybrid or converting your own boat, then hiring “Ollie Owl” is an excellent way to experience life onboard an electric narrowboat.

  1. Hi Caroline Badger
Long time no speak – love the environmental boating business – exactly what we believe in for the future. Great ideas – we already holiday sustainably as much as possible but this is another level!!
    Good luck
