Sustainability Award for Ortomarine Press Release

Location: Droitwich, United Kingdom

Date: 16th March 2022

At an award ceremony hosted by British Marine and Boating Business and presented by former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, Ortomarine were awarded with the 2022 “Sustainability Award”, which is presented to a company or organisation that “demonstrates outstanding focus in its environmental and sustainability efforts”.

The nomination highlighted their commitment to building environmentally friendly boats that both significantly reduce the vessel’s “carbon footprint” and create a quieter, cleaner and more natural boating experience. Their championing of HVO, organisation of the first ever electric narrowboat trials and the fact that they will only accept new orders for boats equipped with some form of electric propulsion, were all further reasons for their nomination. And all of this in an industry which focusses heavily on tradition and is relatively slow to adopt change,

The nominations were judged by a panel of leading business experts with a wealth of experience in the marine industry and took place at the culmination of the two-day, inaugural British Marine National Conference, subtitled Innovate to Succeed

Ortomarine’s Caroline Badger said “We were surprised and honoured to be the recipients of this prestigious award. It has definitely reinforced for us the reasons why we do what we do”.
